Rocio Flores is Biz Latin Hub Mexico’s Senior Legal Counsel and is an integral cog in the running of the group’s second largest office. She is a sharp, well spoken and highly intelligent professional who is dedicated to supporting all of her clients. Here is a bit more on her story:
Although born in San Luis Potosi, Rocio has spent most of her life in Mexico City and is a proud ‘chilanga’. Her educational journey began at the famous UNAM where she completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Law. It was here that she began to specialize in foreign commerce and customs law. After graduating, Rocio completed further qualifications in fiscal law (2015) and in legal argument (2017). The result for Rocio was a comprehensive and balanced grounding in all major streams of corporate law, which enabled her to begin the successful and blossoming career.
Rocio’s first role was as a senior lawyer at a prestigious firm that specialized in customs and import/export law. After enjoying success in her position at this law firm, Rocio moved on to work for the Mexican Tax Authority, SAT (Servicio de Administración Tributaria), performing tasks mostly focusing on public administration. Her final job before joining the Biz Latin Hub team was in an important tax and customs office.
In 2016, she joined the BLH-Mexico team and assumed the role of General Legal Counsel. Here are a few words that she shared regarding her latest position word of advice for anyone looking to import into Mexico:
“I joined Biz Latin Hub in 2016 because at that point, I felt that I was perfectly equipped to attend the needs of clients and assist them in adapting to an ever changing legislative landscape. Years of experience in customs and shipping law combined with a personal desire to help foreigners in the Mexican market meant that a client facing role was a perfect fit. I am really enjoying the new challeng of assisting clients to import/export goods to/from Mexico.
One word of advice I have for any prospective clients is to review the regulations in the country of origin for your product before beginning the logistical process of application. It may seem simple and obvious but proper organisation makes all the difference in the world”
Rocio, as well as being an export expert, loves to live life to the full. She is a keen runner and climber and enjoys leading a healthy lifestyle. She is an avid traveler, having just returned from a trip to Canada and loves international cinema.
