Regulatory Counsel

We are looking for a Regulatory Counsel to join our regional Regulatory function in LATAM. This role will support regulatory advisory, monitoring, and second line oversight across multiple LATAM markets, ensuring consistent and high-quality regulatory risk management aligned with global standards.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Advisory
- Interpret and advise on applicable laws and regulatory expectations across LATAM jurisdictions.
- Provide pragmatic second line advice on regulatory matters, including AML/CTF, sanctions, conduct, screening hits, and other high-risk topics.
- Support regulatory change management, including horizon scanning and impact assessments.
- Draft, review, and update local regulatory policies and second line procedures.
- Deliver training sessions on regulatory obligations and emerging regulatory developments.
- Prepare regulatory risk reports and updates for governance forums and regional leadership.
Monitoring & Assurance
- Support second line monitoring and assurance activities across LATAM.
- Review control effectiveness, regulatory registers, and remediation actions.
- Assist with oversight of regulatory incidents and escalations.
- Collaborate with the Regulatory Centre of Excellence to ensure a robust monitoring framework.
Stakeholder Engagement & Transformation
- Partner with business leaders, country heads, and global regulatory teams.
- Support regulatory technology initiatives and integration workstreams.
- Promote a strong culture of compliance and reinforce the Three Lines of Defence model.
Requirements
- Qualified lawyer in a LATAM jurisdiction (preferably Colombia or Mexico).
- 5–10 years of post-qualification experience (PQE).
- At least 5 years of experience in regulatory compliance, legal advisory, or similar regulatory roles.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks impacting corporate/trust services (AML/CTF, sanctions, conduct, licensing, company law).
- Experience drafting policies and advising on complex regulatory matters.
- Experience supporting cross-border or multinational operations.
- Fluent in English and Spanish (Portuguese is a plus).
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret regulation into actionable business guidance.
